Barn Owl - Lost In The Glare

Barn Owl - Lost In The Glare
Normally, when I'm writing a review, I'll look at tracks separately but individual critiques are irrelevant for albums such as these. This album needs to be considered as a whole.

This is sprawling Americana influenced drone reminiscent of latter day Earth. On the whole, this is gentle and meditative, conjuring images of long, unforgiving days followed by cold, dark nights, all unfolding along mile upon mile of a dusty, barren terrain. The Darkest Night Since 1683 breaks from this and ventures into SunnO))) territory, which is a welcome detour. Closing track, Devotion II, is a mixture of both styles.

This is a good album to put on and lose yourself in.
